Jubilee Road's task is to share worship and conversational experiences with all who seek to know the living Christ more fully. As the project travels forward, the list of offerings below is bound to shift and adapt to future needs and callings. For now, we provide the following services.
- Complete liturgies, prayers & poems.
- Workshops and presentations, essays & articles, and worship services & sermons on creativity, worship & prayer, service & activism, poetry & storytelling, spiritual autobiography, and theopoetic approaches to biblical interpretation & theological reflection, Celtic and Anabaptist trends in worship & spirituality.
Jubilee Road is a place of intersection of many movements and strains in worship and theology, including,
- scripture, especially the gospels and the psalms
- Celtic Christianity
- Pietist and Anabaptist church movements, with a sympathy toward and valuing of higher liturgical traditions
- a deep and relevant combination of aesthetics, mysticism and activism
- the literary arts, particularly poetry and poetics
- contemporary ecumenical worship movements such as Iona and Taize
Who is behind Jubilee Road?
Travis Poling, originator of Jubilee Road Liturgy Group, is an Associate Member of the Iona Community, a member of the Richmond Church of the Brethren, and an MDiv student in writing & worship at Bethany Theological Seminary and Earlham School of Religion in Richmond, Indiana. You can read some of Travis' essays and poetry at TravisPoling.com, and his blog at blog.travispoling.com.Travis has prepared and led workshops on spirituality, the creative life and activism, and theopoetics, and has prepared and led numerous gatherings for worship over the past six years at Manchester College, Manchester Church of the Brethren, Richmond Church of the Brethren, Bethany Theological Seminary and Earlham School of Religion. Currently, Travis is contributing to worship planning for Bethany's 2009 Presidential Forum, and the 2009 Progressive Brethren Summit.
